Following the 2012 budget by George Osbourne, Sills & Betteridge Solicitor Gary Phillips takes us through his thoughts on the budget.

The Chancellor has announced a series of changes to the taxes paid by home buyers.

The headline rate of Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) on residential purchases over £2 million has increased from 5% to 7%.

Perhaps more significantly, the Chancellor has spelt out a commitment to close real or imaginary SDLT loopholes.
