Sills & Betteridge supports summer safety!

Here at Sills & Betteridge, we would like you to have a fun and unforgettable summer.

When the weather is perfect, you might go to the beach with family and friends.

But there is a chance things may not go to plan.

Here is a little advice from the Coastguard:

  • -  Inflatables can be dangerous and can easily be blown out to sea. If this happens, stay
with the inflatable as this will keep you afloat.
    -  Wave your arms and make as much noise as you can to attract attention.

If you find that someone's in trouble, tell a lifeguard or ring 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Sills & Betteridge are supporting summer safety in association with Lincs FM and the Coastguard Association. Find out more from them by visiting their websites through the links.

Charity Fashion Bazaar in Boston

"Welcome! Thank you so much for joining us in fundraising for MS Research; a charity not only close to my own heart, but one that aims to see the back of an illness that affects so many. Please do enjoy the evening and let's all help to make the most we can for this worthy cause!" - Rebekah Cooper, Event Organiser.

On Saturday 14th July 2012 at the Haven High Technology College, a Charity Fashion Bazaar was held in aid of MS Research. Sills was more than glad to donate a hamper for the raffle.
We wish Rebekah Cooper and her team all the best to their continued efforts in fundraising.

Saul Fairholm 2012 Lincoln Professionals Football Tournament

Sills Sabres Team:

(Front) Elliot Roberts, Lee Thompson, Will Murray

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With a new kit and a new squad members, the ‘Sills Sabres’ went into last night’s ‘Lincoln Professionals’ Football Tournament’ with renewed optimism after last year’s early exit.  Having been drawn into what could only be described as ‘The Group of Death’ alongside local footballing heavyweights Lloyds and HSBC, it was clear that a good start was needed against fellow lawyers Bridge McFarland.  In spite of a spirited performance, The Sabres contrived to lose a game which they should have won – final score 2-1, Simon scoring what turned out to be a consolation goal.  Ironically, it was ‘The Sabres’ lack of sharpness in front of goal that cost them.

Next up were Lloyds Bank – having watched their opening performance from the stands, the feeling amongst the Sills squad was that a number of the Lloyds’ team might have been ‘bussed’ in from branches around the country! Sills’ would clearly need to ‘up their game’ to match these guys. At 1-0 down with a few minutes to go Sills pressed forward in search of an equaliser. Unfortunately, the ‘rub of the green’ went with Lloyds and two break away goals in the dying seconds gave a final score of 3-0.

The final group game against HSBC was again a tight and tense affair – an early goal from the Bank was cancelled out when Simon (the only member of the tram to bring his shooting boots!) scored his second goal of the tournament. With time running out both teams went looking for a ‘winner’ – in the end the game was settled by a late goal from HSBC.

Sadly ‘The Sabres’ didn’t trouble the ‘trophy engravers’ again and went home - for the second year running! - on the first flight. In spite of the lack of success on the pitch the evening was enjoyed by the whole squad – The Sabres will be back again next year!

The Armed Forces day was greatly supported by all around the country as many held local celebrations.

Sills & Betteridge in Boston was happy to provide sponsorship of two awards made for their Local Armed Forces Hero, Captain Ken McIntosh and to their Local Armed Forces Family Heroes, the Schweikhardt family, RAF Sergeant Mark, his wife Nicola and their two children Mark and Ben. Beris Brickles (Partner at S&B) was there on the day to present the awards as well as providing a lovely hamper to the event.

We hear a total of over £500 was raised and will be split 50-50 between local Legion Funds and The Poppy Appeal.

We hope everyone that attended had a wonderful day and we will continue to support our heroes.

Sills & Betteridge at Flower Evening in Boston

A Flower Evening was held in Boston on Tuesday 26th June 2012 in which Sills donated a hamper for the raffle. We hear it was much admired and provided a good focal point.

The event took place at Haven High Technology College with nationally renowned flower arranger, Barry Grey attending as a special guest.

Despite being down on all numbers, those that came had a lovely evening and made a total of £300 for Boston Woods Trust.
