As part of Sills & Betteridge Solicitors on going support for local projects in Lincolnshire, the firm donated £500 towards Nettleham Woodland Trust earlier in the year. One of the Senior Partners, Stephen Wilson, was on hand to present the cheque and help with some of the planting.
The sposorship was used to help fund the wetland planting in and around "The Wykes" wetland at Monks Wood, Dunholme near Lincoln. Pupil's from Lincoln Christ's Hospital School and Welton St Mary's Primary School (as part of their Red Nose Day events) also came down to help plant nearly 500 native plants on Friday 18th March 2011.
The plants included 18 different species such as greater and lesser pond sedges, yellow and purple loosestrife, sneezewort, marsh marigold, creeping jenny, cuckoo flower, ragged robing, water figwort, sweet galingale and carnation sedge. These native plants will grow over the coming years to enhance the wetlands and attract new wildlife.
The Nettleham Woodland Trust has kindly placed a plaque acknowledging Sills & Betteridge Solicitors sponsorship underneath "The Wykes" sign.
We wish the trust continued success with the project.
