The Revesby Estate provides the perfect backdrop to a memorable day. The weather was excellent and the crowds flocked to the event which attracted approx 20,000 people and over 200 trade stands. We put a team out with the help of Robbie McMagic to help attract the crowds to our stand.

Dsc06574

Unfortunately this was Robbie's final show as he announced his retirement, he will be sorely missed by the firm. In one of the photos we have a picture of Helen Sorby and her daughter Ella enjoying Robbie’s balloon modelling experience.

The Sills & Betteridge stand was busy all day and as usual the fridge pad’s and the successful dog treats proved extremely popular, along with the Frisbee flings which the children loved. Thank you to all the organisers for another terrific show and for all your hard work, we will be back next year. To find out more visit www.revesby-country-fair.co.uk

Sills Stand At The Record Breaking 2011 Heckington Show

Over the weekend of 30th / 31st August 2011 was the historic Heckington Show. Originating in 1863, this is one of Lincolnshire's foremost village shows, which attracts visitors from across the UK. Last weekend was no exception with a record breaking 30,000 people attending over the two days.

100_3067
Since the merger with Godsons Solicitors in Sleaford, last October 2010, Sills and Betteridge have looked at every opportunity to raise our profile in the Sleaford area and could not pass up the invitation to have a stand at the show.

30072011045
Sue Ross from Sleaford lives in Heckington and, with the help of her husband Jason, she set the stand up on Friday evening. We had been given an excellent spot by the main ring and would like to thank Jackie Wright, the Heckington Show Tradestand Secretary for looking after us so well.

100_3062
On the Saturday Emma Lawler from Sills and Betteridge presented prizes in the show jumping competition. As always we had hired Robbie Mcmagic and on both days there were queues of children waiting for his balloon scupltures. It gave the staff on the stand the opportunity to chat to some of the visitors and hand out leaflets, frisbees and pens to passers by.

Img_0059
On speaking to Robbie on Sunday he totalled up that he had used over 500 ballons over the 2 days, which shows exactly how busy he had been. A big thanks from all at Sills for your hard work Robbie. Over the weekend we were also accepting donations for LIVES our chosen charity for 2011.

Img_0060
It was a long hot weekend but so rewarding to meet so many people and receive so many enquires. We ended with 61 contact cards completed over the weekend and over 20 enquiries about our services which have been handed to the relevent departments. It was a fantastic event and drove home how important it is that we fully support these type of events as a firm and use them to engage with our client base.

A big thanks to every Sills and Betteridge staff member and partner who helped over the weekend including Richard Bussell, Rachel Bussell, Ed Sharpe, Sue Clayton, Beris Brickles, Sue Ross,Sacha Waxman, Chris Appleyard, Isabel Clarke, Emma Lawler, Carly Murphy, Katie Scott, Richard Mawer and all the collective husbands, wives and girlfriends who made up the remaining stand team. Sills attend the Saul Fairholm Lincoln Professionals Football Tournament

On Wednesday 20th July 2011 at Lincoln University, Saul Fairholm Accountants held the inaugural Lincoln Professionals Football Tournament. The format was 5 A Side with the 8 teams split into 2 qualifying groups of 4. Each team played 3 qualifying games of 12 mins each, with the group 1st and 2nd going through to the Semi Finals and then on to the finals. Substitutes could be made on a rolling basis.

Sills & Betteridge entered a team consisting of Ed Capes, Richard Mawer, Simon Breeden, Chris Milns, Dale Brownless, Will Murray ,Euan Mclaughlin , Malachy Mcgill and Andrew Graver. A blend of "experience" and youth.

The groups were as follows:

Group A

Barclays Bank

Langleys Solicitors

Saul Fairholm

Wilkin Chapman Solicitors

Group B

Sills & Betteridge Solicitors

HSBC Bank

Savills

Bridge McFarland

Sills started brightly against Savills in their first game, having plenty of shots on the Savill's goal in the first half. Early in the 2nd half a brief lapse in concentration allowed Savills to break through and snatch an early goal which knocked the wind out of the Sills sails. A 2nd goal put the game to bed despite Sills coming back towardss the end without scoring. In the teams defence this was the first time we had played together.

Imga0012
2nd up for Sills were HSBC Bank, immediately you could tell that they had played together alot and they played far more as a team, putting pressure on the Sills goal from the start, scoring in the first half. Sills came back strongly in the 2nd half with Malachy making a mazy run down the centre of the field to score a lovely goal, to pull us back equal. HSBC then stepped up a gear and put more pressure on the Sills defence ending in Richard giving away a penalty punching away the ball outside his area, this was converted by HSBC, the game finished 2 -1. In the final game against Bridge McFarland, with our fate already decided, we lost 4 - 0.

Imga0022
Imga0023

The team gave their all and came away feeling proud of our performance in the first two games and with the feeling that if we could play together more frequently we had the makings of a half decent team. It has since been decided that we will aim to enter the team into 7 / 8 tournaments per year to give us some more experience and bond as a team - we will also work on our fitness which was definately not up to some of the other teams.

Congratulations to the HSBC team who went on to win the tournament.

Hsbc
A great evening and good to see so many fellow professionals putting in so much effort. Thanks to the organisers Saul Fairholm.

Sunday 10th July 2011 saw the annual Spilsby Show. This popular event takes place on the Spilsby Playing Fields on Ancaster Avenue Playing Field off Boston Road and is always  a great day out and one of the highlights in the Town’s calendar.  Sills & Betteridge has a long association with the Show and we were again present in force.

Imag0138

The Show was officially opened by Rob Whiting from BBC Radio Lincolnshire, and contained the usual events such as the Shire Horses, Classic Cars and much more. The Lincolnshire Cooperative were in attendance, celebrating their 150th birthday with a selection of classic vehicles and birthday competition.

Again Sills managed to secure one of the best pitches on the Showground and the stand was manned throughout the day by Louise Worthington (Spilsby), David Stapleton (Spilsby), Martyn Hall (Lincoln), Hayley Hall (Spilsby), Paul Hunt (Spilsby), Clare North (Sleaford), Emma Lawler (Lincoln) and Anna Wilson (Lincoln).

Robbie McMagic was on hand all day and proved to be a great hit with children and parents alike and did a fantastic line of very fashionable headwear.

Dsc04125
Dsc04130

Our happy team were certainly kept busy throughout the day dealing with enquiries, handing out goody bags, free dog treats and balloons all drew people to the S&B stand and the "win a free bottle" draw and lucky dip meant we were able to raise funds for LIVES, our chosen charity for 2011.

Dsc04171

It was obvious from talking to people how well thought of the Firm is in the local community. We had many enquiries on the day and we are sure that our attendance has given the profile of the Firm a major boost.

Sills & Betteridge Solicitors support The Riverside Festival in Gainsborough

Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Sills & Betteridge were proud to sponsor the tenth anniversary of the Gainsborough Riverside Festival on Saturday 11th June 2011.  Since the firm opened our Gainsborough office back in October 2010 we have taken an active role in the community in and around the town.

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]The Sills stand was a hub of activity. The fantastic double-act by Phil, Debbie Cocker-Brown's husband, and Tony Woods ensured that everyone was entertained and there were many comments to the effect that it was nice to see solicitors not wearing suits and handing out sweets!

[[posterous-content:pid___1]]

The day was fine but windy; several of our balloons escaped and came close to damaging innocent bystanders.  Andrew Durkan was on hand just in case. Debbie and Shan were invited as sponsors to attend a VIP reception at the Old Hall where they met the Mayor and other dignitaries and even managed to get involved in the parades by joining the Scouts band.

[[posterous-content:pid___2]]

The Sills & Betteridge prize draw lured lots of people trying to win a free Will, bottle of fizz or chocolates.  The winners will be announced over the coming days, once they have all been contacted.

The show generated lots of enquiries for the Firm’s services and we believe contributed to an enjoyable and successful day promoting Gainsborough and all that it has to offer as well as promoting the Firm and its commitment to the town.

On Saturday 21st May 2011, The Brant Broughton Dog Show took place, only in its second year, but a well organised and well attended event in the village.
Dsc06132
As part of our commitment to the community,
Sills & Betteridge Solicitors are a big supporter of the show and our marquee took pride of place near the refreshments area. We gave out goodie bags, Frisbees for the children and dog treats for the dogs, we had a great game called "name the dog" with a cute dog to win as a prize. Again all the money we raised went to L .I.V.E.S our named charity for 2011.

Dsc06137

The weather was lovely and all the dog’s enjoyed it as well as the people, it’s a good day for all the family, and a day out I would recommend in 2012.
