Wednesday 4th May 2011 saw the arrival The Natwest Lincoln Charity Champions League Finals Night, with the 10 qualifying teams arriving at the "Natwest Maltings Arena" to compete for the coveted title of Lincoln's Premier Bar Football Team.
A near capacity crowd of 50+ fuelled a frantic atmosphere for the opening knockout stages. Drawn against local friendly rivals Wilkin & Chapman in the first round, the Sills team blasted out of the blocks with a convincing 10 - 4 win in the home leg and followed up with a 10 - 2 win in the away leg to progress to the Quarter finals and face the Lindum Group.
Again Sills & Betteridge stepped up to the plate and breezed through the quarter final with a 10 - 0 win in the first leg and a tighter 4 - 3 in the 2nd leg. On to the Semi finals.
In the Semi finals Sills came up against a Wright Vigar team full of confidence after overcoming Langleys. Eventually Sills pulled away to win 15 - 6 and marched on into the final against a dominant Rilmac Group team who had won their semi final 19 - 7 against Langdum Combo.
The final between the Barcelona and Manchester Utd of Table Football did not disappoint with Sills & Betteridge moving to a half time lead of 9 - 4, only for Rilmac Group to come back to 11 - 11 with seconds to go - Sills scored the winner !! A fantastic end to a great evening.
Congratulations to Ed Capes (Captain), Andrew Campbell, Andy Payne and Ian Baker for retaining the title for a 3rd consecutive time. The winning cheque of £1000 was donated to Candles, the Lincoln based Cancer Charity.
Well done all.
